To hide or not to hide
This journal is NOT "friends only". And hopefully never will be. I feel like I would lose the incentive to make good posts, if I had a lot of hidden posts. (Not that I'm capable of making good posts anyway, but, y'know... at least the incentive is there...) Also, I've rarely seen especially better friends only posts than public posts, which leads me to believe that imagining that there are lots of great, fabulous posts in all those friends only journals, is only an illusion. The grass is always greener. And that just buoys my preference for public posting.

Questions
So, you want to know: 1. "Why did you add me?" 2."Do I know you irl or online from somewhere?" 3."Who are you?" 4."Who am I?" 2.1 "Have I met you before?" 2.2 "Do we live in the same city?" 2.3 "Did we go to the same school?" 2.x etc.
( more... ) Question 6. Bonus question redux: a) Should I friend you/unfriend you? b) Can I friend you, then change my mind on the same day or the same week and decide to unfriend you, then change my mind a few more times as my whims dictate? A. Do what you like. Just don't post 10 times in my journal, (or even 1 time,) just for the purposes of telling me that you are doing it or asking for my permission. I won't be mad at you for doing so, but there is no point to telling me something that I already know from joule anyway.
faq 2: "please take me off your list"
posted: 6:55pm 8th feb 2004
2:34 2nd jun 2004 - If you want to ask this question in a comment, it must be posted underneath this post. Or it will be deleted. Hopefully tho, you're question is already covered, by what is written here and so you don't need to post your comment. So please read.
When someone asked me this question here, my response, (partly inspired by various people's posts in their journal, such as this, (just one example) and partly just to think out loud,) was as follows:
"Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to post a comment in my journal. If people ask nice, or can come up with a really good reason (and there are, many good reasons sometimes but I can't see any in this case,) then, yes, often I will take them off my friends list.
But, ( more... )

Bluesfest Report
I went to the 17th Annual East Coast International Blues and Roots Festival in Byron Bay a few days ago, from the 13th-17th April.
Artists I saw:
Hilltop Hoods, Xavier Rudd, The Cat Empire, David Gray, Beth Orton, Sigur Rós, Pete Murray, Bernard Fanning, Michael Franti, India Arie, Jaime Cullam, Sarah Mcleod, Christine Anu, Damien "Jr Gong" Marley, Bob Geldof, Richard Clapton, Jackson Browne, Megan Bowman, The Greencards, The Audreys, Daniel Lanois, Afro Cuban All Stars, The Backsliders, and many more!
Stars spotted:
- Isabel Lucas from the Home and Away TV show, with a friend who was almost her identical twin, in the Mojo tent parting the crowd like the Red Sea, twice. - Jemma Gawned from Big Brother Australia #1, leaving at the front gate. - Karl Kruszelnicki, Triple J radio science host, grooving to Femi Kuti in the Mojo tent. - Several Katie Holmes lookalikes, although at the time the real Katie was in labor giving birth to Suri Cruise, of course!
Hilltop Hoods and The Cat Empire were better than I expected, they blew my mind. They are very good at making their music sound better onstage than it does on the CD. Xavier Rudd was totally awesome, which he is on the CD anyway, so, yeah, totally met expectations. He was the best out of all of them I reckon. David Gray was not as good as I hoped but he was still totally awesome. Sigur Rós were awesome. ( more... ) |

Once more unto the breach,[...] when the blast of war blows in our ears,[...] imitate the action of the tiger: Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood. Dum Vivimas, Vivumas! Finish the race, finish with a smile. Fit and strong, I run long. Focus and finish, for those who can't run. Go hard or go home. Go the distance. Go with all your heart. I'll sleep when I'm dea... I write to remember. Joy is in the journey. Just keep on writing. Just write. Just show up. Just start. Keep going. Keep it moving. Keep moving forward. Keep on pushing. Keep trying harder. Slogans I want to have on a t-shirt: "Land rights for gay whales!!!" I saw this yesterday on ishara's journal entry. This was popular as an 80's bumper sticker apparently. "I'm with genius" with an arrow pointing up. This t-shirt I saw on Stargate Atlantis, worn by David Hewlett (Dr Mackay,) in episode 9 "Home." It's a parody of the 70's "I'm with stupid" rock t-shirt.
"Cartesian Duelism = Death" This was suggested by a girl from my redneck past. It's a humorous cauldron of layers and evocations I tells you.
"Kiss me" with an arrow pointing down, on the back of the t-shirt. (Or alternately, up, on the front, etc.) Another variation on the "I'm with stupid" shirt.
And this page has 2000 more suggestions.

(Alternate explanation: she's mutilated it ugly, so that no other girl will like me!! and she can have me all to herself!! OMG. That's the love! (j/k hon! hehehehe *mwa*))
That was on Friday night. Friday the 20th. So a week and a bit ago. I meant to point it out earlier, but what with being busy and lazy and all.
Thanks you!!!!! *hugs* *kisses* *more kisses*

| | DJ thr33 - deep house techno stuff | ] | It's my 33 (27th,) birthday soon. So I'm having a PARTY, on Thurs. the 31st of March (7 days from now.) At my house, in Melbourne, near Eastland Ringwood.
- 3 theme cont'd: In this joint live 3 people. There is a 3 in the flat number. And one of the numbers in the street number is 9. Which is 3x3... (There are 3 other days in the 3rd month that have a 3, but only the 31st has a 3 in the first column, and is close to my real birthday on the 4th of the 4th...) -
Please bring food (if you want to.) And let us know you are coming.
The presents policy is the same as last year. Basically, if you know me really really well, or are a billionaire, or can use gifts as a tax write-off, or something, or just enjoy throwing money into the fire. Then you are allowed to give me gifts. Otherwise bring food or something.
The entertainments:
Naturally, On the decks at the party will be DJ thr33.** Kickin' it hard and tripping out some of his funky groove beats, in sexy syncopated style.
Tripod** will be there to do a special exclusive 3rd show of Lady Robots Verison 1.1 as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2005.
And of course, what would this party be without a 3 ring circus set up in tents outside on the lawn. Cirque Du Soleil** is in town and have kindly obliged. They'll be doing their 8pm Quidam at my house, instead of melbourne park. So nice of them.
Naturally the whole event will be broadcast live by triple j**

Firstly, the Nokia 9300 looks like a very cool phone!! I just thought I'd point that out. I'm thinking it might be the device that'll make 24 hour internet access a compelling/practical idea. Which seems kindof an amazing n' remarkable paradigm shift, for us pu-ny hu-mons. It's the only phone, that has a full qwerty keypad without selling it's soul to do it. The 9300 does this, by having a big keypad, that folds away to a small size. Something no other phone does well, except for the Nokia 6820 and the 6810, which have apalling screens. Oh and the Motorola A630, which has a number of defects. While the screen of the 9300, has only 16-bit colour, (compared to it's 18-bit and 24-bit screen endowed rivals,) the 9300's screen, is still adequate, if not great. And this lower colour depth, drains less battery. Allowing for a good compromise, between phone size and functionality. (A bigger battery drain, yields bigger battery sizes, meaning bigger, heavier, phones.)
Other phones with qwerty I list below, (comments are based on official reviews, that I've found on the web):

| | Joe Schmo theme | ] | Watched the final ep of Joe Schmo Show (2003) a few minutes ago. I saw most episodes. I think it was disappointing, that the scope of the show, was as limited as it was. (They always stayed in the mansion.) But I enjoyed the way that, they went to great lengths, to show what was going on, behind the scenes, with the crew and so on. No other show, has been as candid about filming the producers and cameramen etc. doing their thing, I think, as Joe Schmoe Show. At least, not quite in this way. Was hoping it would be like, The Truman Show or Ed TV, when I saw the original promos. But it really didn't have that scope/excitement, about it, at all.
Joe Schmo 2 was filmed this year (2004.) This time with two people being fooled. A woman and a man. Jane and Joe, (their real names, this time.)
I think I'll always prefer non-reality TV shows, but reality shows are cheap to make and serve a niche. |

a propos that, Orkut now doesn't need invites, to get in, anymore. But everyone knows that right?

They vibrate, flow! At one moment, with the sounds of New Zealand vernacular. At another, with the tones of some various voice dialects, one might find, among melbourne uni students. Perhaps. Sometimes. I'm not entirely sure. As if the syllables are seeking their true home. They want to find their true voice, but are trying others on. To see if they fit.

| | Time Enough for Tears - The Corrs; In America Soundtrac | ] | I've started taking Strattera. The side effects are quite harsh. I haven't built up the dose to therapeutic levels yet. So I won't know for a few weeks, if it could work for me. Statistically speaking though, it's relatively unlikely to work for me. Which is a bummer, as the meds are costing me thousands of $ to try. Because Strattera isn't currently covered under the Australian pharmaceutical benefits scheme.
I watched the film In America (2002) yesterday. And then I watched it through again with the commentary track. The commentary track is awesome!! Because the person whose life the film is based on, is also the writer and director of the film. He also directed In The Name of The Father (1993.) The film is really good too btw! I cried for like the entire time I was watching the film. Saddest film ever. But in a good, calming, way. Plot summary: Actor Johnny's two year old son dies, (slowly, from cancer.) And so he travels from Dublin to New York with his wife, (played by Samantha Morton, who played Agatha the pre-cog in Minority Report) and 2 daughters, aged 5 and 10 years old. Because New York is a place where he believes he can get lots of acting work. They find an apartment and antics ensue... (tragic, sad, melancholy, serious drama based antics.) Definately watch the commentary track on this DVD. |

Here is my recommended phone list based on mobileburn.com, (the best phone site:)
The phones they suggest to buy right now are, (in order of goodness:)
Motorola V600, Sony-Ericsson Z600, Sony-Ericsson T630 and Sharp GX-20.
Mid last year, top dogs were, (in order of best to worst again:)
Nokia 7250, 5100, 6610, 6100, Samsung SGH-S300, Siemens S55, Siemens SL-55, Sony-Ericsson T68i and Nokia 6310i. (These phones would now be a bit cheaper, so good value.)
In those lists, I haven't included PDA phones. Actual PDAs or a laptop, offer far better features for this purpose. I recommend Sony Clie PDAs. Nor have I included video camera phones. Because a digital camera is far better for this purpose and these phones quickly use up battery life. For picture taking, I recommend the newly released Olympus C-8080 digital camera. Although dpreview.com hasn't put it through it's paces properly yet. Soon. update: they have now. review |

Um, so there's this. Which links to this.
So, it's a town bursting randomly into flames. But only when there are witnesses and only metal objects, mostly electrical appliances. Kinda like the X-files, or that film The Core (2003).
It's been over a month and the worlds top scientists haven't figured it out. (The ones that have looked into the problem so far at least, which is quite a few so far.) One guy on slashdot reckons that a far away military installation firing off strong radar waves and bouncing it off the atmosphere, combined with the fact that there are train tracks and ocean near the town, (reflecting and trapping the waves,) could be the culprit. But the instruments that scientists are using, so far haven't picked up what kind of radiation it is or could be. (Radio waves, microwaves, etc.) So it's a big mystery. |
